Our Ministries and Outreach

Mission Re-Visioning

In late 2015, Hyattstown Christian Church realized that something needed to change if the church was going to remain active.  In 2016, the church invested in Hope Partnership’s New Beginnings process to explore our options and make a decision about our future direction.  As a result, we learned we have a lot of passion around helping the marginalized in our community, especially the LGBTQ+ community and those hungry and homeless. We have a love of children and the arts.  We have a love of fellowship and the teachings of Jesus.  As a result, we wrote a “Future Story” about our vision for our church around what we learned, working to get outside the walls of the church building into the community to make a positive impact on the lives of others.  We would love to have more join us in our mission to spread love, support, and necessities to improve the lives of others where they are.

As a small church, we accomplish a lot during the year!  Our participation in feeding the hungry at the Frederick Soup Kitchen, supporting Pride events, and buying food and gifts to children at Christmas are just a few things we do to make a positive impact. Our goal is to build on these efforts to expand our outreach and have continuing projects throughout the year.  Our new pastor, Rev. Monica Banks, brings experience and resourcefulness to a congregation that doesn’t always know where to begin.   Explore our Ministries and Fellowship pages and consider joining us in new outreach projects in the coming year!
